Between the two designs, we decided to go with the first one which includes a smaller plastic casing, cellulose paper, a capillary tube, and a lancet all in one. While this implements more material and costs more than the second design overall, it takes a much more precise reading than the other prototype. The cellulose paper is pulled through the capillary tube and is cut just short the length of the tube. This allows the capillary tube to vacuum a precise amount of blood every use. The tube is also encased in a plastic tube which protects the test from outside contamination. Ultimately, we think this is a better design.
